Australia’s Largest Telecommunication Company Warns Customers about EMF Exposure
Posted by GreenSwanStaff at July 8th, 2014
Last week Telstra, the telecom and media giant serving Australia and the Pacific region, sent out a text to all of its cell phone users on how to reduce exposure to electromagnetic energy. In addition, the company has produced an informative video which helps consumers understand the issue of non-ionizing radiation and methods to distance themselves from exposure.
To date, Telstra is the first major telecom company to proactively inform its customer base about methods to reduce cell phone radiation exposure. Telstra spokesman Steven Carey summed up the company’s motivation behind this outreach campaign as follows: “We want all our customers to have up-to-date and relevant information about using mobile phones. This includes information on all matters of mobile phone safety.”
Many Telstra customers expressed concern and worry upon receiving this notification. Despite the cellular industry’s publication of distance warnings, many consumers do not read the operating manuals in detail or are unable to locate the relevant information online.
It is important for cell phone users to take note that cell phones have not been tested for use up against the body. A distance between device and body of roughly one inch is the standard recommendation when in use. For Further details, consult your cell phone manual.
