Roughly four years in the making, “Mobilize” is set for release in September. Nominated for Best Documentary by the California Independent Film Festival, this film arrives on the heels of newly proposed cell phone protection legislation by the City of Berkeley and the announcement to its cellular customers by telecom giant, Telstra, warning about the need to keep adequate distance from cellular devices.
Looking at recent media publications, the conversation continues on the potential hazards of cellular radiation. ABC News today published a warning to consumers titled: “3 Reasons Not to Sleep with Your Phone in the Bed.” The article reminds us of unforeseen dangers associated with close proximity to our cell phones. Consumer Reports, in July, published an article titled: “How to Cut your Exposure to Cell Phone Radiation” again focusing mainly on the proximity issue.
“Mobilize” will remind us anew of the many reasons we should take care when inviting cellular technology into our lives. The radiation is real and as yet, not proven to be safe. The best we can do is to keep distance between our bodies and the emitting devices. We need to remind our children about safer cell phone practices as well as they tend to greatly rely on wireless technology in their daily lives.
