Pocket Alert™ for Android User Guide
Thank you for downloading Pocket Alert™ by Green Swan, Inc. This product was created to help protect your health and safety from the harmful effects of EMF radiation during cellular phone use. Specifically, our aim is to encourage consumers not to leave their cell phones in their pocket in the “on” condition as the device will continue to emit EMF radiation even when a phone call is not engaged. Manufacturer guidelines state that cellphones should not be used next to the head or body. Leaving phones “on” in a pocket constitutes a violation of the stated proximity guidelines.
Young people today are particularly at risk as they tend to drop their phones into their pocket as a matter of convenience and easy accessibility. Studies have connected cell phone pocket placement with sperm count collapse and sperm quality impairment. For women, the risks of pocket placement may be as severe. Some incidences of breast cancer near the bra area where phones are often placed have recently been diagnosed. Additionally, studies at Yale University have shown fetal damage due to close cellular exposure during pregnancy.
Our goal is to remind consumers when they have placed their phone in a pocket in the “on” condition. A repeatable vibratory alert will deploy prompting the user to remove the phone from the pocket or turn it “off.” Much like a seatbelt alarm reminding drivers to take necessary precautions, our Pocket Alert™ application reminds cell phone users of the need to maintain FCC and CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industry Association) mandated guidelines for proximity-to-body usage.
With a particular focus of young men and women in mind, the purpose of Pocket Alert™ is to help cellular telephone users comply with established FCC (Federal Communication Commission) mandated usage guidelines of phone proximity-to-body limits. Cell phone radiation guidelines include maximum “Specific Absorption Rate” (SAR) levels of EMF radio frequency waves and they include warnings to reduce wireless radiation by limiting cell phone exposure near the body. Using a simple vibratory reminder, Pocket Alert™ helps reduce the effects of EMF radiation by prompting the user to remove the phone from his or her pocket.
Cellular phone safety guidelines are designed to minimize public exposure to radio frequencies (RF) and are published by most cellular phone manufacturers in their user manuals. All mobile phones come with “Product Safety and Warranty Information” informing customers how to help protect themselves from cell phone radiation by complying with FCC mandated proximity guidelines. Unfortunately, these user manuals often go unread by the consumer and such important health information can be overlooked. Once you have downloaded the application, Pocket Alert™ will indicate “On” right away, enabling the application.
Pocket Alert™, once downloaded, remains in the “on” condition at all times unless you elect to turn “off” the app. If you have placed your phone in airplane mode, turned your phone off, or lost power due to battery depletion, Pocket Alert™ will re-engage automatically as power and cellular connection is re-established.
The alert feature will deploy each time the phone is placed in your pocket in the “on” condition. The alert vibration will repeat for about 3 minutes giving you ample warning to turn off or remove your phone from the pocket. If you later place the phone back into your pocket in the “on” condition, Pocket Alert™ will re-engage, reminding you once again to remove your phone.
The gentle style of Pocket Alert™ is designed not to annoy you but rather to help remind you to change your habit of carrying the phone “on” in your pocket.
If you touch your phone’s menu button, it will direct you to the Homepage and Legal information contained in the application. The legal information reminds users that Pocket Alert™ is a federally registered Trademark, is patent-pending and the property of Green Swan, Inc., a company devoted to safer cell phone use.
